Description:
The Fox Portable No. 3 Sterling, which doesn’t fold like its two predecessors, was made in response to the Corona Typewriter Company’s lawsuit alleging patent infringement. The folding Corona 3 was wildly popular, and Corona viewed the folding Fox portables as threats to its market dominance. The lawsuit was at least a factor in the demise of the Fox Typewriter Company. Before closing down, Fox made about 1000 Sterlings. In contrast, it made about 10,000 No. 1s and about 2000 No. 2s. To contact me or learn more about my collection, please visit benmetzger.com.
