1920s Allen 10 Serial # 3958 1920s Allen 10 typewriter, Serial # 3958 Bryan Kruk's 1920s Allen 10 typewriter. 2017-03-28 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Bryan Kruk: 1920s Allen 10 Serial # 3958 This is perhaps one of the rarest typewriters in my collection. I'm not 100% sure of the model or the year it was manufactured, although I know they were made around 1920. The Allen was made in Allentown, Pennsylvania, which is about a half an hours drive from where I live. I found this typewriter on craigslist for an absolute bargain, and jumped on it right away. Luckily, the listing was posted for an hour or two, and nobody else had asked about buying it. Apparently it didn't go far from where it was made, because the guy selling it was in Allentown; the same place where it was made.
This typewriter is in wonderful condition, and works fine. It would need a new ribbon if I were to use it, but I don't have any plans on installing a new one.

I'm a 17 year old typewriter collector/dealer in Pennsylvania.
I bought my first typewriter, an Olympia SM4, from a church flea market when I was 11. Ever since, I've loved typewriters.

I sell the newer models on my website (typewriters101.com) but I also have a quite large collection that I've built up of about 75 typewriters which are not for sale.
The machines I sell are cleaned, oiled, and have new ribbons. It's definitely provided plenty of money for machines to buy for my collection. I hope to share many of my machines from my collection here.

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Allen 10 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Allen Serial Number page and the Allen 10 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
