1919 Fox Portable 1 Serial # 6557 1919 Fox Portable 1 typewriter, Serial # 6557 Geir Kihle Hanssen's 1919 Fox Portable 1 typewriter. 2021-05-04 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Geir Kihle Hanssen: 1919 Fox Portable 1 Serial # 6557 Spring in escapement has gone missing, which makes the mechanism not pop back in place after triggering. I plan to fix this with a safety pin which will look almost identical to what should have been there. Some of the type arms also stick despite being flushed numerous times. Likely some rust has happened on some of the linkages, so the machine needs to be disassembled and brushed down I believe. It does type given som help though!

Another warning etched into the paint, this one warning that it should be kept 'half-closed' due to type positioning. Unsure what this is in regards to.

I am a Norwegian fellow who enjoys tinkering and fixing up typewriters. One day I decided I wanted a typewriter to write letters on. I bought one that turned out not to work. I got annoyed and decided I should be able to figure out what was wrong and fix it. I did it, but the rush of successfully mending such an intricate machine was like a drug. I wanted more. I decided I would try to buy non-functioning, but pretty machines, fix them and sell them before repeating the process. What I didn't expect was that I would fall in love with the machines I fix so now I suddenly find myself a bit of a collector.
