Gary Bothe speculates that serial numbers for this machine begin at 1,000 (information via Will Davis; see link in sidebar). Bothe's machine displays the lowest known: 1055. Mine has 1373, possibly making it the 373rd Molle ever made. Likely, mine dates to 1918.
Very early Molle's read "OSHKOSH, WISCONSIN." below the company name on the bottom portion of the frame. Subsequently, the text reads, "OSHKOSH, WIS., U.S. of A."
My Molle has a QWERTY keyboard with foreign characters and accents. Among extant machines there is a wide variety of keyboard arrangements. Molle seems to have aimed at multi-lingual customers.
