1918 Adler 16 Serial # 120472 1918 Adler 16 typewriter, Serial # 120472 Maxim Suravegin's 1918 Adler 16 typewriter. 2021-06-14 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Maxim Suravegin: 1918 Adler 16 Serial # 120472 ADLER 8 AND ADLER 16
The most Rare Adlers typewriters
Adler 16 - known only 3 pieces in the world
and Adler 8 not more then 30 pieces
New addition and Besttypewriters Museum
The "Adler 16" model was launched in 1911. It has the special feature that the type lever set can be removed and changed in a few simple steps. Different fonts, e.g. Block font, pica font or italics can be written.
Since the buyer base of such a special typewriter was small compared to the users of "normal" typewriters, this type of machine is accordingly rare, and was only manufactured to order. Users of "normal" typewriters then opted more for the identical model 15, which was built without replaceable type set and in series and which did not have to be ordered separately.
The same existed from 1903 with the model "Adler 8" and the identical model Adler 7. On the model 8, the type lever set could also be changed, while this was not possible with the "normal model", Adler 7. However, both models were still equipped with the more cumbersome, and thus slower, three-row keyboard with double switching.
Model 16, or Model 15, were the first bumper typewriters made by Adler with a four-row keyboard and easy switching.
