Description:
I found this Underwood 5 on the street. The machine wasn't working. The mechanism is rusted and someone has clipped off most of the keys. Removing the keys will take some time. It must have happened not too long ago, because the interfaces were still clean and not rusted like the rest of the machine. I took the machine home and a few parts. Expanded.

I come from southern Germany and have been collecting historical typewriters for 10 years. I'm interested in the antique machines built before 1945. All machines built after 1945 are not used for collecting but for writing
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Underwood 5 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Underwood Serial Number page and the Underwood 5 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
