Description:
I found two of these machines at the same flea market. I wanted them both so I could swap parts if needed. But then I picked up the other one and had a deep look inside... and found wasp nests that had been abandoned long ago. I decided I could suffer for a bit if I needed to, since there are so many of these guys around from what I hear (and I have indeed seen a few more since then.)

I am a student, father, and metrologist (gauges, not weather), Dungeon Master and typewriter tinkerer extraordinaire! I've only been at collecting and fixing since August 2018, but I already am a more confident person. I have learned a great deal from many of the wonderful resources available on the Internet, and I've met a lot of awesome people in my travels! Hopefully some folks can say the same about me!
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Underwood 5 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Underwood Serial Number page and the Underwood 5 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
