1915 Fox 24 Serial # 100813 1915 Fox 24 typewriter, Serial # 100813 Gerald Ambrose's 1915 Fox 24 typewriter. 2018-04-03 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Gerald Ambrose: 1915 Fox 24 Serial # 100813 I got this typewriter from Ebay.
It must have been sitting for some time and the carriage draw cord was broken.

The 'x' key had somehow jumped from its linkage guide bar, at the back, and wedge itself on the '3' key linkage. Now the keys are working fine.

The only problem I have now is that it is missing the right ribbon spool. I have rigged a universal spool to work of the time being.

Now that it works I can see why collectors like the Fox typewriters. The action is light and is quieter than the average desktop typewriter.

I will post a type sample soon.

Update 8/26/2016: I originally had the serial number as 100815. I checked again and it is actually 100813.

Left the collection on 4/2/2018.

I started collecting typewriters several years ago and it started with a late 1960s Smith-Corona Sterling portable that I got as a gift.

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Fox 24 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Fox Serial Number page and the Fox 24 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
