Description:
Erika 2 with Fraktur typeface. Complete with so many extras. An absolute unicorn of a machine that is incredibly complete.
Dubbed the Nazi-Stasi machine, since the former owner appears to have had a long lasting career for the German military in both the first and second world war, and the post war DDR police unit. In 1943, he became a two star general working for the Luftwaffe in WW2. In 1945, he was captured in Berlin like many others and was imprisoned from 1945 until 1949. When he was released, he got a role in the DVDI, Deutsche Verwaltung des Innern working as a Chef. Inspek. In 1950, he got this machine serviced one last time and in 1951, relieved from his duties. A few years later, he passed. I would say he got off lightly for the things he did.
In 2025 I acquired this machine from an auction website and it has been in my collection ever since. I plan on getting it fully serviced in the future, not a restoration ofcourse. Polishing some of the chrome and making it fully operational. Right now, it works, but a bit sluggishly.

22 year old Dutch collector. Interested in any era of typewriters except for most post 1980's machines.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Erika 2 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Erika Serial Number page and the Erika 2 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
