Description:
Monarch No 3 from 1914. Located, bought and restored (within a budget) for a client. The machine was in my home for the duration of the restoration, but is now sold and moved on to its intended owner. It had a specialised tabulator system which was a very interesting one. Pushing down a 'set' button would press a tabulator pin down onto a tabulator rail, much like we would do with manual tabulator systems ourselves. The pins were strored in a small container in the back, very similarly to how a stapler would store staples. A 'clear' key would take that pin and push it back up and insert the pin back into the container.

I am a Norwegian fellow who enjoys tinkering and fixing up typewriters. One day I decided I wanted a typewriter to write letters on. I bought one that turned out not to work. I got annoyed and decided I should be able to figure out what was wrong and fix it. I did it, but the rush of successfully mending such an intricate machine was like a drug. I wanted more. I decided I would try to buy non-functioning, but pretty machines, fix them and sell them before repeating the process. What I didn't expect was that I would fall in love with the machines I fix so now I suddenly find myself a bit of a collector.
