1913 Oliver 5 Serial # 336867 1913 Oliver 5 typewriter, Serial # 336867 Brendan Raftery's 1913 Oliver 5 typewriter. 2026-02-09 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Brendan Raftery: 1913 Oliver 5 Serial # 336867 This one has some pretty bad surface rust on the back side. It seems to work after I oiled it and barely cleaned it up. It will need the wooden spools. Might be a candidate for a repaint. It's missing the pencil holder arm.

Dad, typewriter nerd, disc golfer, musician and an all around swell guy that lives in Port Moody BC Canada. I bought my first machine in around 1997 for $5 (Underwood 6) and restored it in a small cabin I lived in. I had it for the past 24 years when my 8 year old daughter asked if it worked, I brought it down off the shelf and she started playing with it. I then saw on FB Marketplace a 1916 LC Smith that needed a ton of work for $50, and that hooked me, 24 months later I have 160+ machines and have plans for all of them. Fantastic hobby. I love them being so Analog. I have recently collaborated with Dave Benning, a good friend and local artist, to create some custom hand painted works of "workable" art. I restore the typewriter while Dave gives it some new "clothes".
