Description:
While I have not been a collector for terribly long, as soon as I saw the Oliver, I knew I wanted one. I found a clean looking one on eBay that turned out to be a local seller. I picked up as with another typewriter and now it is the oldest in my collection, beating out my 1924 Underwood 5. 1912 makes over a century old. I am delighted.

I started my collection back in 2017 when I found a 1993 Brother WP-1250, which was very close to the typewriter I owned and used to write letters home while I was stationed in Korea serving in the US Air Force (I later discovered it was most likely the Brother WP-1150, so I picked that up). In 2018, my wife took me to one of the local antique store and I saw an old typewriter that caught my eye. My wife purchased it for me for Christmas (a 1932 Royal 10). My wife and I decided to limit my collection to 5 typewriters, so I need to sell off my surplus.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Oliver 5 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Oliver Serial Number page and the Oliver 5 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
