1912 Corona 3 Serial # 20226 1912 Corona 3 typewriter, Serial # 20226 Mark Adams's 1912 Corona 3 typewriter. 2016-07-12 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Mark Adams: 1912 Corona 3 Serial # 20226 This is possibly the earliest extant, unmodified No. 3. There is one featured at Type Oh's blog that has a lower serial number (20007, see link), but that typewriter displays a number of modifications.

On my machine, the ser. no. is 20226. A secondary number, etched on the underside of the carriage (common on these machines), is 11006, which I gather from Ed Neuert's article in ETCetera (Nos. 106 & 107, Fall/Winter 2014-2015), is the lowest to be found on a No. 3.

My machine has early features: no pigeon logo on paper table, shorter space bar, pivot bar segment, straight ribbon selector, etc.

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Corona 3 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Corona Serial Number page and the Corona 3 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
