Description:
Super-heavy at 17.0 kg due to its cast iron frame! This is by far my weightiest typewriter but also uniquely decorated with the cut-out company name or logo on the sides serving as windows to the interior workings of this machine. The keys strike but somehow the carriage does not move anymore. There's some kind of guard or something at the back that broke off (sigh!). I doubt if I can find parts for that. And so this will just become a museum display piece once it's cleaned of rust.

I'm an archaeologist who writes heritage books and collects Japanese ceramics as well as quite a number of typewriters that I've acquired through purchase or as gifts over the last 10 years in the Philippines as well as in the US and Japan.
I'm currently a visiting professor at a university in Japan and it is heaven here to see so many typewriters being auctioned online!
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Ideal A4 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Ideal Serial Number page and the Ideal A4 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
