1911 Blickensderfer 7 Serial # 163434 1911 Blickensderfer 7 typewriter, Serial # 163434 Lukas Klein's 1911 Blickensderfer 7 typewriter. 2026-06-02 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Lukas Klein: 1911 Blickensderfer 7 Serial # 163434 I searched for a Blickensderfer typewriter for many, many years. Now I finally have one. I found a beautiful Blickensderfer 7 typewriter. I bought it at a collectors' meeting from the stock of a typewriter museum. The machine works very well. It is very In good condition. Unfortunately, a few parts of the locking clip located above the typebars, which are meant to prevent the key levers from falling out, are missing. As well as the paper pressure plate on the front of the writing roller, and the carriage scale with its brackets.

The line shift lever
The line shift lever

The small wheel is the line spacing adjuster. The flat lever above the roller knob can be pushed backward (away from the writer). This inserts a new line. The flat lever It's normally pressed by the large line shift lever, but it can also be moved manually. I have no idea what this small lever actually does, or what its function is. To me, it looks like a small, additional line-shift lever. But that can't be it. A typewriter wouldn't have two line-shift levers. (Except for early models.) Orga Standard, Demoutable and Continental Standard machines). So what is the actual purpose of this small, flat lever located above the roller control knob?

I come from southern Germany and have been collecting historical typewriters for 10 years. I'm interested in the antique machines built before 1945. All machines built after 1945 are not used for collecting but for writing
