Description:
1063. My wife found this on Facebook Marketplace. I originally thought it was a Royal No. 5. After looking it up in the database, I was pretty sure it was a No. 1. I told my wife to get with the seller--that I definitely wanted it. When I got it home, I thought the serial number said 85506, which is still a good, low serial number. After I cleaned the serial number and wiped it off, I realized that it was 35506, I was so excited to have such an early Royal typewriter.

I started my collection back in 2017 when I found a 1993 Brother WP-1250, which was very close to the typewriter I owned and used to write letters home while I was stationed in Korea serving in the US Air Force (I later discovered it was most likely the Brother WP-1150, so I picked that up). In 2018, my wife took me to one of the local antique store and I saw an old typewriter that caught my eye. My wife purchased it for me for Christmas (a 1932 Royal 10). My wife and I decided to limit my collection to 5 typewriters, so I need to sell off my surplus.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Royal 1 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Royal Serial Number page and the Royal 1 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
