Description:
This is the famous "bronze temple" design.
When I got it, it had been painted over with flaking black paint. I couldn't resist removing that paint, and I'm glad that I did.
You may not know that the Remington-Sholes / Fay-Sholes typewriters are basket shifted. The typebasket slides horizontally under the carriage.

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Fay-Sholes Fay-Sho 4 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Fay-Sholes Serial Number page and the Fay-Sholes Fay-Sho 4 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
