1909 Columbia-Bar-Lock 14 Serial # 153053 1909 Columbia-Bar-Lock 14 typewriter, Serial # 153053 Geir Kihle Hanssen's 1909 Columbia-Bar-Lock 14 typewriter. 2022-05-06 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Geir Kihle Hanssen: 1909 Columbia-Bar-Lock 14 Serial # 153053 A Columbia Bar-Lock No 14 picked up from a local. It came from her husband's side of the family, where it had been all his life and before. His family used to come from a big farm estate where this was likely the machine used for letters and business. Machine in very good condition, _but_ the cast iron arm the return lever is connected to has snapped off and is currently just super-glued in place to not dangle around. If used, it _will_ break again, so a more robust solution will be implemented.

I am a Norwegian fellow who enjoys tinkering and fixing up typewriters. One day I decided I wanted a typewriter to write letters on. I bought one that turned out not to work. I got annoyed and decided I should be able to figure out what was wrong and fix it. I did it, but the rush of successfully mending such an intricate machine was like a drug. I wanted more. I decided I would try to buy non-functioning, but pretty machines, fix them and sell them before repeating the process. What I didn't expect was that I would fall in love with the machines I fix so now I suddenly find myself a bit of a collector.
