Description:
This one was part of the official SCM collectionâwhich was maintained for historical and competitive reasonsâand then loaned to the Onondaga Historical Association in Syracuse. In May 2008 it was sold at a Breker auction to Peter Weil. It then passed to a fellow collector who recently sold it to me.
As an early SF, this one was made in NYC, unlike most SFs which were made in Groton, NY. This is one of 18 SFs known to still exist with serials below 1000. All have serials above 500, which suggests the company likely began producing around 500. If thatâs true, this wouldâve been among the first 150 produced - and most likely in 1907 instead of 1908. RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Standard Folding 1 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Standard Folding Serial Number page and the Standard Folding 1 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
