Description:
I got this beautiful machine for free on Facebook marketplace. Upon picking it up, it was disastrous - all 84 horizontal rotating actuator bars under the machine were bent, jumbled, and disconnected, among other issues. Now, it is fully functional and complete restoration. No repainting/new graphics were done. It works really quite smoothly for such an old machine. (It is missing the lowercase “n” and capital “Q” keyslugs - I am hunting for replacements)

I am a young typewriter collector, based in Canada; I caught the bug when I came across a 1926 Underwood Standard No. 3 in an antique store, and was never able to get the darn thing out of my head. Since then, my collection has been rapidly growing. I especially like older machines, and I prefer restoring rough machines over hunting for perfect examples.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Smith Premier 4 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Smith Premier Serial Number page and the Smith Premier 4 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
