Description:
This is a nice example of an early L.C. Smith with pinstripes and a decal of prancing horses.
On these early machines, the shift moves the typebasket up rather than down, as on later ones. The return lever is on the right. But many features of this design endured for decades and decades on L. C. Smith and Smith-Corona standards.

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the L.C. Smith 2 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the L.C. Smith Serial Number page and the L.C. Smith 2 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
