1905 Fox 4 Serial # 14171 (B3571) 1905 Fox 4 typewriter, Serial # 14171 (B3571) Tyler Anderson's 1905 Fox 4 typewriter. 2016-01-21 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Tyler Anderson: 1905 Fox 4 Serial # 14171 (B3571) This had been at the top of my most wanted list. An understroke Fox machine. And, on top of that, it has a decimal tabulator to boot. In relatively functional condition, just needs to be properly cleaned.

Typesample to be added.

Post Note: I was disassembling the machine, and found that underneath the screw-plates for the ribbon metal flap, there were serial numbers. Under the left one was B3571, which I assume means that this is the 3571 Fox 4 produced, and under the right one was the main serial number, 14171. Alongside this, on the metal bit holding the tab levers on the back of the machine in place, there was the number 440. I can assume that this means that this is the 440th decimal tabulating fox 4. The fact that the machine is 14171 out of 16000 means that it is relatively late in the production cycle for Fox blind machines, and thus it may also mean, if the 440 does mean what i think it means, that there were around 500 or 600 decimal tabulating machines made at most. Thoughts?

Post-Post Note: The machine has been cleaned, and some of the varnish taken off. Much more shiny.

Post-Post-Post Note: Now with typesample!
