Description:
The Franklin Nr. 9.
Ribbon system has been moved to the side and a ribbon vibrator took it's place, allowing for visible writing.
This means that Benjamin Franklin is visible from the writing position, so long as there is no paper fed into the machine :)
This example was advertised as a 9 with a serial number in the 13k, meaning that the machine would have been an anomaly, since 9's were made from 16k range till about 18k range. It was also advertised as working well, which unfortunately, it does not. Spacebar got bent in shipping.
Despite all those issues, I am happy to own a Franklin.

22 year old Dutch collector. Interested in any era of typewriters except for most post 1980's machines.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Franklin 9 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Franklin Serial Number page and the Franklin 9 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
