1903 Smith Premier No 2 Serial # 77492 1903 Smith Premier No 2 typewriter, Serial # 77492 Maxim Heindl's 1903 Smith Premier No 2 typewriter. 2026-05-31 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Maxim Heindl: 1903 Smith Premier No 2 Serial # 77492 Bought this typewriter from the man himself, Richard Polt! He wrote to me one day and encouraged me to attend a typewriter swap meet he was going to be at in Cincinnati selling off 75% of his collection. He posted his collection on a spreadsheet on a link to emails he sent to everyone he has connections with and I just so happened to come across several typewriters I was interested in on the list. Several machines I put my name in for were already sold. However, this Smith Premier and another machine weren’t sold yet. He asked if I would be interested in buying these machines for the fair price of $150 each. I approved, he put my name down and reserved them. I met Richard at the swap meet on Saturday May 2. An unforgettable experience/trip!

I have admired typewriters since I found my fairly recently acquired 1923 Underwood No. 5 from a local antique store in my hometown of Mount Vernon, Ohio. To me, typewriters are a window to the soul, allowing the user to creatively express themselves and to get to know more about themselves through poems, art, newsletters, or whatever the typer chooses to craft and create. I am always on the hunt and keep my eyes peeled for new finds wherever and whenever they come my way.
