Description:
This is Typewriter #6. I just had to have this one when I noticed that it typed DOWN; all of the other typewriters I had ever seen type upwards, so this one was a very exciting addition! It is in decent condition for a display typewriter, but it does not actually type, as the carriage refuses to move (and is also visibly damaged a bit). Acquired October 2023 in Canton, Georgia (with my friend Jean Kojali!). Purchased for $100.

Hello! I am a college student majoring in History and English, with minors in GWST, Classical Studies, Leadership & Service, and Public History. I work as the Student Assistant of the Department of Museums, Archives, and Rare Books at my university. I intend to pursue a career in rare book curation and education reform. My big, unrealistic dream is to own and curate a museum... galleries would include typewriters, rare books, book art, etc. It would also include a private research library (open to the public). Unrealistic, of course... and very, very, very expensive... but still the dream.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Oliver 3 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Oliver Serial Number page and the Oliver 3 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
