Description:
This Merritt "Type Writer" is now the oldest machine in my collection. Advertisements date the Merritt from around 1890 to about 1896 (based on a search of various digital archives).
My Merritt arrived without a cover, but it is otherwise whole, though not in working condition. The serial number is imprinted on the right front of the base, not the rear right as on some other machines.
I note that "Type Writer" is two words (but not hyphenated).
