Description:
This is an early Densmore no. 1, sometimes called a "1a" by collectors. It can be recognized by the circular loops in the rods that pull the typebars. These may be decorative, or they may be designed to offer a chance for fine adjustment: squeezing a loop would alter the length of the rod.

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Densmore 1 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Densmore Serial Number page and the Densmore 1 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
