1899 Underwood 1 Serial # 5122 1899 Underwood 1 typewriter, Serial # 5122 F N's 1899 Underwood 1 typewriter. 2026-09-06 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of F N: 1899 Underwood 1 Serial # 5122 One of my favorite machines. I found it in The Netherlands (Beesel) in 2022 for 50 euros. According to the seller this one was used untill the 1970s in the Farmacy of the village. It is repainted at some point in its life. Also, the frame in the front is repaired, very skillfully. I found similar early Underwoods here before which were also used well after WW2. I guess they were originally sold in the US and exported to Europe when there were shortages here. They could use any machine, being it antique or repaired. As long as it worked it was okay.
