Description:
Found in antique shop near Atlanta, this 1897 Smith Premier No.4 has Pharmacist keys. 0/ for NO , Dram, Ounce, and the familiar Rx for "recipe". It is well preserved and appears to work just fine, need to find one of those huge ribbons for it. Also of note: The dried ink under the dead ribbon was definitely Purple. I am unsure if it is a pharmacists feature or just coincidence.

“I come from under the hill, and under the hills and over the hills my paths led. And through the air, I am he that walks unseen.
I am the clue-finder, the web-cutter, the stinging fly. I was chosen for the lucky number.
I am he that buries his friends alive and drowns them and draws them alive again from the water. I came from the end of a bag, but no bag went over me.
I am the friend of bears and the guest of eagles. I am Ringwinner and Luckwearer; and I am Barrel-rider.”
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Smith Premier 4 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Smith Premier Serial Number page and the Smith Premier 4 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
