Description:
Downstrike typewriter invented by Wellington Parker Kidder (the person behind the Wellington, the Empire and many others typewriters with better or worst luck).
This is the # 9, and may not be the last one: there is a discussion about a "Franklin number 10". Do they exist or not? I am among those whose answer is Yes.
(They DO exist, Mr. Tony Casillo is selling one labeled as "NĀ°10")
The ribbon spools, as you can see, are off to the sides (previous models have them the center of the platen, making difficult to see whatever you were writing).
This particular example of the make came to me from well known canadian expert Mr. Martin Howard.
No many typewriters are so eye catching as the Wellingtons are.

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Franklin 9 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Franklin Serial Number page and the Franklin 9 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
