It was in rough shape with a lot of rust and heavy layers of grime when I bought it. It was a big project to fix it and clean it up for the next 130 years. I bought my first typewriter, an Imperial 50, in February 2026. I enjoyed the process of repairing it and cleaning it so much that I soon bought another. And another. Six months later I had 20 typewriters. I’ll need to quit my day job to keep up with these fun, interesting, challenging, satisfying and meditative projects. I’m especially interested in older machines from the experimental era of typewriter design.
