Im in the middle of a restoration on this machine, ill come back later with more information and pictures.
Some more information at "Smith Premier typewriter - Smith Premier 2 https://share.google/T4TMYg5tYMfRCG5QN"
Update, its almost done... It's alive, sorta
Update 2, Ok so I have done some more research trying to figure out how old this thing is and the first thing I checked for was the serial number.
On the typewriter database it says that the serial number can be in one of to places, either on the rear left carriage rail or on the ring that the type slugs rest on... well my machine doesn't have a number on either of those two spots, but it dose have a number on the bottom of the machine and while disassembling the machine to repair it I saw that same number on some of the other parts as well, I can only assume that the serial number. also when I bought this machine the escapement was broken, the cast iron had sheered off and because of this failure the carriage release didn't work, I was lucky enough to find someone parting one of these machines out thank goodness and was able to purchase a new one. however I noticed the gears were slightly different in size to the original ones, odd. they still worked though.
