The second of the recalcitrant Remington Portable duo. This one's little tooth that engages the carriage rail and stops it from moving has broken off. In its present state, it acts like I am constantly pressing the carriage release and will whiz straight to the end of the line.
This is even more disappointing because this is an example with a pharmacy keyboard. I'd really like to get it typing, but that involves tracking down the replacement part - and condemning another machine to junk status.
It has other cool features, like the little prongs which come out of the platen to hold index cards in place. Despite its broken state I still think it's amazing. Perhaps junking another machine might just be worth it...
