1964 Smith Corona Classic 12

Serial #6LT 136190

I bought this off a Craigslist seller in Belleville, IL for $20. I checked all the keys to make sure they worked, and they did. Upon further inspection I discovered that the "C" key does stick some, but that's not a big deal with this machine. Not only did the faceplate come off and need to be glued back on, the fine adjustment platen knob is missing. This means that the page does not advance to the next line when I push in the carriage advance lever. I don't know how to fix that. I don't know how I could replace that. That means the typewriter is nearly worthless to me. Maybe I can sell it for parts, but I don't know if I could.

I've been interested in typewriters for some time, but I only recently obtained my first one, an electric, and in short order obtained several more manuals, and only one of the manuals worked when I obtained it.
I travel and am kind of a nomad so I like looking for typewriters, and would like to learn more about fixing and maintaining them.
