1961 Royal Royalite Serial # 4811125 1961 Royal Royalite typewriter, Serial # 4811125 Matt Watkins's 1961 Royal Royalite typewriter. 2024-03-30 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Matt Watkins: 1961 Royal Royalite Serial # 4811125 I received this as part of a lot of 16 typewriters and the most challenged for quality and shape. I cleaned and oiled and at least got it working, but it doesn't seem a very good quality typewer...or maybe I'm not a fan of the Royal ultra-portables compared to Skyriters and Gromas.

First hunt and pecked on a 60's Smith Corona Sterling my mother had and Took typing class in 1982 on an IBM Selectric as a means to get into the computer class my sophomore year. Probably reached 60wpm. Once I moved over to computers I never really went back to typewriters, but 40 years later I find myself enjoying the sound, feel, and smell of a now-vintage Selectric 2 and just picked up a 1955 Silent Super. We'll see how far down the rabbit hole I go....
