She didn't look like much in her online profile. Nobody was hitting the like button. Too many late nights and her clothes were stained with what looked like bourbon and Coke. But she was straight at the moment of photo. If one looked hard enough, there was still some charm lurking under the dirt? But I have been fooled before by a narrow carriage. At least it was going to be a cheap date.

When she showed up on the door step, she was no worse for the cross country ride in the back of a truck. But she'd seen better days and oh my she smelled. She'd taken in renters to earn a buck after her typing days had faded with her ribbon. The discarded remains of three rodent families were spread around the place. And the sticky goo had gummed up the works.

Alas a little love and attention is all she needed. Her ball bearing typebars sing once more in elite typeface. She looks so good without her clothes....

Ok LC Smith gurus, what is up with the bell and margin release? Bell strikes three times? One for margin, one for release and again on return. Now if you slow down the margin release and carriage return it doesn't ring.

Was there a more complete owner's manual made for the SS 1A/2A series, one with a function schematic(s)?

The remains of the rum and coke party. Not bad. Again the WD-40 long soak pays off.

Cover touch up passes the two foot rule. I had better luck with the dark gray base.

As with many, the bug is back there somewhere due to an Underwood No. 5. My grandfather was on a small town school board and used one for this. My parents had a yellow Royal Safari that I used to index card everything, including a beer can collection. Collection syndrome clue! The long dormant tic was activated when my neighbors left a Remington Quiet Riter on the curb when they moved in circa 2010, Yes a believe it or not story is next, when a Hermes 3000 comes home with the girlfriend from work for free. Yes, free! From there the addiction is full steam. And yes, I now have a No. 5. Typewriters are the perfect blend of using one's technical skills, history and functional purpose.
