The owner said her dad bought it for her mom to use for a business they had. It was super dirty, but the main functions all worked. I've cleaned it up and made adjustments, and now it works reasonably well. The line-lock mechanism was a pain to adjust, but I think I have it as good as can be reasonably achieved. Sometimes the bell will ring twice (the extra ring is after the first ring which is at the correct time). I could eliminate the double ring, but not while also having the the carriage stop advancing and the line-lock prevent further typing all at the correct scale point. Occasionally during blazing fast typing, you can sneak one extra character past the line-lock before it has time to engage.

I find that the touch on this machine is notably heavy but the carriage motion is very smooth when returning.

The ribbon uses the system often found on Remingtons. You can wrap ribbon directly around the central post as long as you have the metal covers to hold the wound ribbon neatly in place. I've also seen special spools that fit these systems and allow the plunger to fall down when the ribbon is fully unwound.
