1965 Smith Corona Sterling Serial # 5AX375043 1965 Smith Corona Sterling typewriter, Serial # 5AX375043 Gerald Ambrose's 1965 Smith Corona Sterling typewriter. 2017-10-22 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Gerald Ambrose: 1965 Smith Corona Sterling Serial # 5AX375043 This machine was given to me along with the Underwood De Luxe.
When I saw the case I thought it was like my other Sterling, but when I opened the case I was surprised and happy to see a completely different style Sterling.

Once home, I started to use it, and it is very nice to use. I can see some of the elements that were passed from this machine to the later, 'last generation,' Sterling. But I would say that this machine is far nicer to use.

The color is really nice too. It matches the name so well especially with the chrome accents.

This machine types with an Elite typeface.

The Underwood and the Smith Corona came with a couple of ads from just after WWII and circa 1951.

Left the collection on 10/22/2017.

I started collecting typewriters several years ago and it started with a late 1960s Smith-Corona Sterling portable that I got as a gift.
