Yard Sale. Nice all-metal typewriter in a fresh, stimulating color.

The case on this one is a great example of excessive overdesign and seems better suited to transporting the nuclear strike codes written on plutonium. See more notes about it in the gallery.

Here's why I call Olivetti the Apple of its era---how would you decide how to lay this case down so you won't have the typewriter upside down ? Take your time; it's important with this heavy typewriter. (That white dot doesn't count; it was added by a previous owner.)

Here's your clue---this small black-on-black arrow, which I assume you were supposed to assume means "UP". Or maybe "Open This Way". If you notice it.

While I find all of mankind's inventions interesting, I am most enchanted by the human-scale arts and devices, the ones that can be created (and repaired) in a home workshop or studio; the ones that can be understood by looking at them; the ones that do something useful or stir admiration. Typewriters work for me.
