This is probably a prototype, as there is no serial number on it. The Fürstenberg, also known as the Archo-Sekretär, was developed in 1936-38 but never produced in series. It is a compact portable with geared typebars that lie flat. Solid, heavy construction with holes cut in the metal base to reduce weight. Machine can be disassembled easily.
This typewriter was presumably brought back from Germany by a GI who painted a pinup girl on the cover.
Ernst Martin's information on this typewriter (from Die Schreibmaschine und ihre Entwicklungsgeschichte) is in one of the images.

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Fürstenberg portable on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Fürstenberg Serial Number page and the Fürstenberg portable By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
