1934 Corona Silent Serial # 1S13609 1934 Corona Silent typewriter, Serial # 1S13609 Tom Beauvais's 1934 Corona Silent typewriter. 2017-10-16 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Tom Beauvais: 1934 Corona Silent Serial # 1S13609 Ohio antique mall purchase. Label indicates typewriter was serviced in Nevada, Ohio (between Upper Sandusky and Bucyrus in northern Ohio). Machine is in nice shape, frame is in good shape for paint--nice glossy finish. Came with good ribbon. Types well except for far right special character key that doesn't come up--something seems bent. But typeface sample came out good. Photos show sound reduction through felt lining on inside of frame--under ribbon cover, on upper sides, and in the front inside back of top row of keys. SOLD to a friend 16Oct2017.

Changed my collecting priorities to portables except the Olympia SG3 with the cyrillic keyboard and my Underwood No. 5--those beasts are too heavy. Sold my earlier typewriters to a friend. I had too many. I use carbon paper for typefaces when the machines have faint ribbons. I take photos with my Canon Powershot SX50HS (50x optical zoom and macro settings). I find it difficult doing typeface specimens since I use a Corsair K70 RGB gaming keyboard plugged into my 15-in Macbook. I got it solely for the deep key travel. I have fun hunting machines in antique malls in Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana.
