Description:
The Modell follow the lines of the 2b, and the cardboard cover present in the first commercial model of this make (The Mignon 2) now is made of black metal (you can find this model in ivory white and even in pink!!!!, they are not original but aftermarket repaints, just the Modell 2 in red is original, otherwise, all Mignon models, even the # 1, were black)
The other difference between the # 3 and the # 4 is in the lack of a backspace key (you need to make any backspace movement by hand, and you can easily do wrong, because the Mignon models (any of them) are not really "visible" writers.
The one in my collection is complete, with metal lid and even a new ribbon.
You can achieve a reasonable speed writing with this typewriter (once you get used to the position of the letters and signs).
This, with the easy change of characters (a one minute operation) was a plus in this strange but extraordinary old typewriter.

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Mignon 3 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Mignon Serial Number page and the Mignon 3 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
