1927 Royal 10

Serial #X-1243004

I found this on EBAY, and I really shouldn't have bought one off online. The seller demonstrated that it was fully functioning, but when he shipped it, he shipped it in a cardboard box full of packing peanuts. The typewriter had broken the box because of its weight, and the carriage had slammed to the right, breaking the right platen knob. After shipping insurance reimbursement, it was about $30. The letter hammers are packed with old ink, so the letters are indistinguishable when striking. I will have to clean this one up. A couple hammers are bent, but most of it functions as normal. Most springs are so old they are stiff and do not extend. This model has one glass panel on each side and an exposed bell (with the hammer) on the back.

Growing up, my grandmother had a typewriter sitting on top of a filing cabinet. I always wanted to try it out, but it wasn't until 20 years later when she closed her store that she finally let me have it. Since then, I have been on the search for more.
