Bought this for £10 having been described as "not working". The badge & side panels alone were worth that to me. The bonus being the platen was lovely and spongy!
This 1957 Halda 7 Star had some modifications made since the manufacture of my 1955 so not everything was hot-swappable. (the platten is shorter so needed some McGyvering to make it fit). This machine, like my beloved restored 1955 version, was in a shocking state. Sadly though, unlike my first Halda the AZERTY layout, its broken carriage, seized typebars & springs, broken space bar and missing carriage return lever meant it was beyond economic and practical repair for me. The parts gleaned have helped my original Halda sing and shine. The rest will be offered to anyone in need and the rest kept to help revive any future machines in need of a few bits and bobs.

* No typeface sample as I was unable (and also unwilling to put the effort into fixing the typebars) to create an imprint.

Star was in better shape than my other Halda.

No peeking inside now.

Trim was in better condition too.

This would've been 2A Elite had they moved. Thinking of swapping out my 1* for 1! at some point.

UK member with Greek Cypriot heritage, living in London.
Relatively new to the hobby - My first machine was an Everest Mod 90 that I bought after watching a Violet Evergarden anime in December 2021.
My collection now consists of 40 machines. Nice round number. Time to stop I reckon. . .

My absolute favourite remains (just) my 1939 Royal KMM. For me, it's both the prettiest and the "warmest" to type on. It has "Majik" (with a nod to Sandy1)
I count my blessings that I am lucky enough to have amassed such a beautiful bunch.
