1948 Japy 121

Serial #1123052

This is another restoration project which will hopely go well.

The Japy 121 seems to be not as hard to find as I initially thought. Apparently it follows the same pattern as many other French typewriters which came to Northern Spain. This one in particular came from Irún, close to the French border.

As for the date, I´m not entirely sure about it. Looks like there´s another version of the 121 which looks much more "40´s" than this one, but it matches the other one already listed here in the DB.

I can´t tell much about the machine itself, because I haven´t tried it too much. It needs a new ribbon and a spool, apart from minor adjustments. It looks complete and fully functional, so this is promising!

The first typewriter I saw was my grandpa´s Olivetti Linea 98 at the office. It was just a curio for me. Then I was given a Nakajima, which I didn´t use and my grandfather took it from me because it was easier to handle than the bulky Linea 98.

Now I own that typewriter, and I started a little collection in Valladolid, Spain. The Nakajima, which is "my" typewriter is the only one which is NOT in my collection. How ironic...

Things then got... complex. I moved from Valladolid to my village, and suddenly found myself with a lot of room available at home, so the small collection is turning into something bigger, a nuisace for my family and a great source of satisfaction for me.
