1944 Olympia Robust Serial # 1944 1944 Olympia Robust typewriter, Serial # 1944 Robert Lehmann's 1944 Olympia Robust typewriter. 2023-04-08 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Robert Lehmann: 1944 Olympia Robust Serial # 1944 Interesting machine, as it was sold by a civilian store, probably after the war, the SS runes on the typeslug were removed and the typekey way changed, so it is a denazifiied machine, and i am happy about it.
After the WW ll there was a need for typewriters and every piece available was used. This machine seems not to have been used in the military, as it is painted in black, but i an very bad quality. Any other informations about the Robust are known, and don't need to be mentioned here again.
It is not the best typer, and due to the dustprotector it is not good to see what has been written, there are better typers on the market, but it is a piece of history.
It came without any box.

Are typewriters my destiny ?
Maybe.
I live in Germany and i am hosting about 70 Machines which i try to use regulary.
Typewriting is for me recreation and a timetravel into history.
My oldest machine is an Oliver 5 from 1913 and my youngest is something from the 90's.
Do i have favourites ? yes, the ERIKA M, the ADLER Privat, and all of these cute 3-bank portables.
Sometimes you can find me at the Typepals meeting on sundays
