1981 Brother Super 7900 Serial # L11499197 1981 Brother Super 7900 typewriter, Serial # L11499197 Tas Kyprianou's 1981 Brother Super 7900 typewriter. 2024-02-06 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Tas Kyprianou: 1981 Brother Super 7900 Serial # L11499197 These beasts have earned a reputation for poor reliability, perhaps deservedly so . . . but you know what, when you find one like this in the wild that is back up and running in a few minutes they are a LOT of fun. My first non-Selectric Golfball foray was with its lesser sibling the 7300 and was almost a total waste of time. This 7900 is different. It weighs a whopping 14.4kg and feels a lot more capable.

Ribbon cassettes for it are a little like hen's teeth though, but I'll keep you posted about re-spooling them when this one runs out. Until then, I will enjoy the sound, action and smell (a heady mix of grease and warm electrical components) of a fully functioning Golfball machine . . . FINALLY.

Relatively new to the hobby - My first machine was an Everest Mod 90 that I bought after watching a Violet Evergarden anime in December 2021.
My collection now consists of 41 machines.

My absolute favourite remains (just) my 1939 Royal KMM. For me, it's both the prettiest and the "warmest" to type on. It has "Majik" (with a nod to Sandy1)
I count my blessings that I am lucky enough to have amassed such a beautiful bunch.
