197X Sedic Pulsatta Deluxe Serial # 016978 197X Sedic Pulsatta Deluxe typewriter, Serial # 016978 Javier Vazquez del Olmo's 197X Sedic Pulsatta Deluxe typewriter. 2016-04-04 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Javier Vazquez del Olmo: 197X Sedic Pulsatta Deluxe Serial # 016978 I got this typewriter because a long time friend of the family showed me hers, and she said she couldn´t give it to me because her grandchildren wanted it. Then I got my own because I liked it so much. In fact, I saw that typewriter when I still had less than 10 machines on my collection.

This typewriter is the end of the road for the Spanish versions of the Swiss Patria. First there came the clone of the original model, then the Amaya and finally, after the manufacturer changed its name to Sedic, there was the Pulsatta Deluxe. As far as I know, it seems to have been a moderately popular learning typewriter. It was sold as a machine to get the basics of typing, with a quite attractive 3-tone plastic bodywork to catch your attention. As for the machinery itself... well, it´s not as good as its predecessors. Not very precise and a bit slow, but a pleasure to use nevertheless. It growls a low pitch tlok-tlok, and that gives it a pretty unique feel.

---UPDATE---

Serial number found (finally!) and updated. It has to be World Champion of Serial Number Elusiveness. Thanks to Gillermo Fernández Boán for his post on the Patria Wellington. The photo with the serial gave me the clue, and then I only needed a good flashlight to decipher what´s hidden beneath the keys.

The first typewriter I saw was my grandpa´s Olivetti Linea 98 at the office. It was just a curio for me. Then I was given a Nakajima, which I didn´t use and my grandfather took it from me because it was easier to handle than the bulky Linea 98. Now I own that typewriter, and I started a little collection in Valladolid, Spain. The Nakajima, which is "my" typewriter only returned home in 2017, almost 20 years later, when he wanted a better typewriter.

A collection that started small grew into something bigger, a nuisace for my family and a great source of satisfaction for me.
