Description:
Got this lovely blue monster on eBay and somehow shipping didn't kill it!
I use this beauty for NaNoWriMo ... partly because the OCR scanning comes out better than with a cloth ribbon machine and partly because it's such a delight to type on and is easy on the fingers even over many hours of typing.
UPDATE: Early 2020: This typewriter decided to quit working one day. At some point I'll give it some attention but for now it's covered up and hiding in a corner of my office.

Humorist. Novelist. Scapegoat.
I'm happy to own 17 typewriters currently. Two are models from my childhood: a Royal Signet portable (my first typewriter when I was about 10), and an Underwood TM-5 (used in 9th grade typing class circa 1975).
I used my IBM Selectric II to win NaNoWriMo every year till it mysteriously bit the dust early in 2020. I use my Selectric I a lot since it fits perfectly on my antique typewriter desk. Some of the manuals are currently being used to type letters to new penpals who are all interested in reviving snail-mail letter writing.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the IBM Selectric II on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the IBM Serial Number page and the IBM Selectric II By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
