The Typewriter Database 1970 Olympia Colortip-S Serial # 3997590 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Steven Kuterescz: 1970 Olympia Colortip-S Serial # 3997590 In 1969, Olympia introduced a similar but completely new body shell for its SM8/SM9 typewriters.
As a result, this Colortip-S differs from the 1968 model I also added to the TWDB.
This one is missing the blocking mechanism that normally distinguishes the Colortip-S from other SM9s. I wonder if they were sometimes sold without it? See my blog link for a comparison of my two Colortips.
This one has the best typing feel of the two and also benefits from an extra large typeface.
As you can see in the typesample, the tail of the "a" slug is broken.
SOLD and replaced with a more pristine (QWERTY) SM9 :)
